6th Annual Niagara Day of the Dead & Art Festival
Join us to experience the true essence of Día de los Muertos, a vibrant Mexican tradition rooted in Aztec history. This is not a Halloween party or a commercial celebration; it is a sacred, living tradition dedicated to honouring and remembering our loved ones who have passed away.
Community Offering Creation (Ofrenda de Día de Muertos)
We invite you to share in this cultural experience. Please bring a photograph or a small token representing a departed loved one to place on our community altar (ofrenda).
Live Music Concerts: La Fondita Musical
Mariachi Live Performance: Mariachi Mexico Amigo
Art Exhibitions and Main Attractions: This year's highlights include colourful alebrijes, a full-size Catrina cardboard sculpture, large skeleton ink creations and an art exhibit by local multidisciplinary artist Luis Martin Flores.
Costume Contest: We will continue the popular Día de Muertos costume contest for everyone to enjoy. Participants can dress up and use makeup to transform into Catrinas, Catrines, or sugar skulls. The public will choose the 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place winners.
Authentic Traditional Mexican Food and Drinks: Enjoy authentic cuisine from Tamales Mexico, a local Niagara Region business.
Kids Zone: "La Lotería" (Mexican Bingo) games with prizes, plus a station for handcrafted activities.

This presentation explores Welland's industrial heritage through the stories of the people who laboured in its factories, fought for workers' rights, and experienced the challenges of deindustrialization. Join us as we examine how blue-collar work transformed Welland, the impact of industrial decline, and the enduring legacy these workers have left on our community.
