  • Off the Page - Poetry Reading/Open Mic

    Melissa Schnarr and Karl Dockstader will read their poetry before an open mic segment for anyone that would like to share their work.

    Melissa Schnarr is Anishinaabe and Kanien’kehá:ka from Bkejwanong Territory (Walpole Island First Nation), with family ties in Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She is a writer, scholar and educator who is currently pursuing a PhD in Indigenous Education at Western University. She also serves as the chair for Western’s Indigenous Writers’ Circle and as a Visiting Cultural Teacher for the London District Catholic School Board. Her work has appeared in the Temz Review, TNQ, the Windsor Review, Luna Station Quarterly and Yellow Medicine Review. Her first poetry chapbook, Secondhand Moccasins, was published in 2023 by Anstruther Press and was shortlisted for the bpNichol Chapbook Award. Her first full-length collection, A Bow Forged from Ash, will be published by Palimpsest Press and is slated for release in late Fall 2025 (under the name, Melissa Powless Day). She lives in Deshkan Ziibi (London, Ontario) with her research assistants, Pixie the chihuahua and Shiloh, the orange tabby.

    Karl Dockstader is Oneida, Bear Clan, and has been an advocate, activist and educator in One Dish, One Spoon territories for the past decade. He hosts a nationally syndicated radio show called One Dish One Mic. Karl’s background includes leadership roles at both the Niagara Regional Native Centre and the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre, which will support him in advancing the Niagara College’s Indigenous education strategy being developed over the next academic year.

  • Fonthill Bandshell Summer Concert Series: The Dirty Pioneers

    The Dirty Pioneers have been performing for over 13 years and are one of the top dance and party bands of the Southern Ontario region.

  • Anniversary of the Korean War

    Join us as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War. Learn about HMCS Haida’s role, the Canadians who served, and participation in the Train Busters Club.  The ship will be dressed with flags, firing the ship’s guns, and other demonstrations.

  • Ni Nagamoon – A Storytelling and Song Experience by Carousel Players

    Join us for a heartwarming and interactive children’s program outdoors at the Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre as we welcome Nicole Joy-Fraser for Ni Nagamoon—which means “I sing” in Anishnaabemowin.

    Through storytelling and original hand drum songs, Nicole shares Anishnaabe teachings inspired by her personal journey and reclamation of Indigenous heritage. 

    Presented by Carousel Players, Ni Nagamoon invites young audiences to sit on the ground, reconnect with Mother Earth, and experience the healing power of story, song, and culture.

  • Strawberry Social and Barbecue

    Strawberry socials are a great way to spend time with friends and family and enjoy a burger or hotdog and chips or just stop by for some strawberry shortcake made using local berries. This is also your opportunity to spend time at St. John's Anglican Church and marvel at its unique history dating back to 1867. St. John's is the oldest surviving church building in the former village of Port Dalhousie. Its history is woven into the story of the former Lakeside village.

  • Braiding Sweetgrass with Indigenous Dreams

    Join Mika Woolley (Mohawk) from Indigenous Dreams to learn about sweetgrass and the teachings of this medicine, which is sacred to the Haudenosaunee.

    Participants will also braid sweetgrass.

  • Nelles Neighbourhood Tours

    Discover the local sites of early Grimsby and the Nelles Family.

    The tour begins at Nelles Manor Museum. After a short overview, your guide will lead you to heritage monuments and moments with stories from local history and the place of the Nelles family in early Upper Canada.

  • Rock on the Lock Concert Series: Rock Night

    Please, join us on Saturday, June 21st at 7 P.M. for the 3rd in our series of free, outdoor concerts at Port Dalhousie's Old Lock One Stage.  This Rock themed concert features performances by The Usual Suspects and GWENSALAMI.

    Donations are accepted and appreciated to support our program.  Dancing is encouraged!  Washrooms are located at Lakeside Park.
