Carnaval D'Hiver 2024 at the l’Auberge Richelieu
Everyone, regardless of age, is invited to participate in the winter carnival that will take place at the l’Auberge Richelieu (565 River Road, Welland) on Sunday, February 4th.
Breakfast marks the start of the day at 8:30 am. Starting at 9 am, children will have the opportunity to participate in the various free activities of the Carnival, such as crafts, skill games, horse drawn hayrides and much more. Kids also have a chance to win prizes just for participating (offered by Desjardins). Also, let’s not forget our special guest, le Bonhomme Carnaval.
PROGRAM
8:30 – 12 p.m. Enjoy a pancake breakfast – with sausages, bacon, baked beans,
juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
• Adults: $5
• Children under 12 receive a free meal.
9 – 1 p.m. Crafts, activities and visit of le Bonhomme Carnaval
9 – 11 a.m. Horse-drawn hay wagon rides.
10 – 10:30 a.m. Official opening with speech by dignitaries.
10 a.m. Maple Taffy Tasting – Thanks to Club Richelieu Niagara Falls
10 – 12 p.m. Fire truck
11 :30 a.m. Yummy Beaver tails

The 2023-24 NHL Alumni Benefit Tour brings you Hockey’s Greatest Family featuring long Idolized former NHL legends from the Original 6 classic teams, Stanley Cup winners, Team Canada heroes and your local hometown heroes all in support of Help A Child Smile. The NHL Alumni Tour has proudly presented hockey legends of the NHLs biggest stars of the past.

Canadian Author Series: What If? Writing Speculative Fiction
Join author, Nancy Taber, to learn about thedefinition of speculative fiction,genres of speculative fiction (e.g., alternate history, fantasy, paranormal, science fiction, steampunk) with their associated tropes, and how speculative elements such as fairy tales, folklore, magic, myth, and the supernatural can be used in a variety of genres (e.g., contemporary, historical, romance, thriller, women’s fiction). Using a combination of discussions, examples, and interactive exercises,the workshop will assist participants in incorporating speculative fiction into their own writing, whether for short stories or novels. The workshop—suitable for writers with any ability or familiarity with writing and speculative fiction—will focus on how to make world-building in speculative fiction believable, coherent,and immersive.
