    Do you love making Granny Squares, but don’t know what to do with them? Or maybe you'd like to learn how to make fun new designs? Well, you're in luck!

    Participate in our Community Quilt Project, running from January 15 to March 15th. Simply bring in your 5" x 5" granny squares to add to our community-made quilt to any branch. When completed, the finished Granny Square Quilt will be donated to the Dialysis Unit at Welland Hospital, as a heartfelt gift from our community—stitching together comfort, colour, and care.

  • Lonely Hearts Market

    Join us on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 12 PM – 6 PM at Market Square in Downtown St. Catharines for a heart-forward day of love, creativity, and connection. Hosted by Coyote Bones Collective, this free event features 60+ handmade and local vendors offering sweet, spooky, romantic, and lovingly made goods. Celebrate all kinds of love, support local makers, and soak up the Lonely Hearts magic.

  • Welland Rotary Curling Social

    The Rotary Club of Welland will be holding its 8th annual Curling Social this year on Tuesday eveningFebruary 10th  at 5 pm. Games start at 6:00 p.m.

    The format of the evening will be the same as previous years. Curling instruction will be available for beginners prior to the start of our curling. This will be followed by 6 ends of curling organized on a blue team/yellow team format followed by a light dinner of pizza and wings. Cost per person for curling and food will be $50. Cost for non-curling guests is $30.

    There will be a cash bar and a 50/50 draw.

    You can enter a 4-person team, a couple or individually. People not entered as a team will be assigned to teams by the organizers.

  • Public Archaeology and History of the Cataract House Hotel: The Underground Railroad at the Niagara River Borderlands

    Join Douglas Pirelli, Director of Archeological Survey, University at Buffalo (UB), to discover more about the Cataract House hotel, the busiest Underground Railroad crossing on the Niagara frontier. Its predominantly African American wait staff played a crucial role in the Underground Railroad, orchestrating the escapes of freedom seekers into Canada. 

    The Cataract House suffered a fire in 1945, and was demolished in 1946, and the a team of UB archaeologists began excavating the site in 2017.

    This talk is held in partnership with the Niagara Peninsula Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA).

    Please join us for a presentation by local author, Bob Friesen, on his new novel Anodyne.This second book of a trilogy set in Grimsby Beach is a fast-paced spy adventure that follows characters from the first novel as they experience the events of the First World War.

  • Great Backyard Bird Count

    Every year bird enthusiasts around the world take part in the three-day event counting birds to help create a real-time snap shot of how many birds are where.

    Come hang out in the children's area for at least 15 minutes between February 13-15, watch for birds on our patio and record your sightings on our tally sheet. At the end of the event, we will submit the numbers as part of the Great Back Yard Bird Count!

  • From Ball Clubs to Blunderbusses: Weapons of the War of 1812

    Peter Martin brings over 30 years of experience working at historic War of 1812 sites and has presented on various topics throughout North America. Peter will showcase and discuss weapons of all shapes and sizes from the War of 1812.  From the standard weapons that soldiers carried into battle to the more distinctive weapons carried by cavalry, navy, and First Nations, all will be on display.   On the day before Valentine’s Day, nothing says I love you like a tickle from a feather spring.

  • Julia's Hope Cup

    Julia's Hope Cup is a celebration of the life of Julia Turner and her humanitarian spirit, while raising funds in support of The Hope Centre. This family event is open to anyone in the Welland community and is FREE to attend. Funds raised will go towards The Hope Centre's food security programs, including their food bank and community lunch program. In 2025, The Hope Centre had over 27,000 visits to their food bank and served over 38,000 take-out lunches to help the most vulnerable in our community.

    More people than ever are facing food insecurity in our community with more than 1 in 10 Wellanders accessing the food bank.
    This year, Julia's Hope Cup is aiming to raise over $65,000 to support The Hope Centre's food security programs.

  • Seedy Saturday

    Seedy Saturday is a free public event with a focus on heritage seeds, organic gardening, native plants, and environmental concerns. Get stocked up for gardening in 2026 with seeds from commercial vendors, a seed exchange table, and seed libraries. We will also have tables throughout the library with other interesting vendors and non-profit organizations.

    This event is thanks to a partnership between the Lincoln Pelham Public Library, the Grimsby Public Library, and the West Lincoln Public Library.
