  • Hot Summer Nights

    On Wednesday nights this summer, fire trucks and fire prevention staff will visit various parks from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., transforming trucks into giant sprinklers. Attendees will also get to tour the trucks and learn about fire safety. Hot Summer Nights is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, learn about fire safety, and enjoy some summer fun!

  • Fonthill Bandshell Summer Concert Series: Fiddlestix

    Fiddlestix, the dynamic fiddle ensemble from Halton, Ontario, led by electric fiddler, Steve Bowen, has consistently illuminated stages worldwide with an explosive fusion of Country, Celtic, and Folk music for almost 15 years. With a devoted following in the GTA, Fiddlestix has headlined major festivals globally. Many noteworthy events solidifies Fiddlestix's reputation as a captivating and dynamic live act, leaving an indelible impression on audiences wherever they go.

    Releasing their latest work, 'Apple Moonshine,' Fiddlestix continues to resonate with audiences as the song reached national levels playing on Canada’s Top 50 Country Radio Stations.

    As Fiddlestix steps back into the studio, there’s a quiet excitement surrounding the promise of what lies ahead- the creation of what might just become their most significant piece of work. With a sense of humility, the band embraces the opportunity to explore new musical landscapes that reflects their evolving journey.

  • Fun With Fermentation Workshop

    Learn how to make your own probiotic-rich fermented cucumber pickles! Marcia will walk you through the steps to make your own crunchy, sour pickled cucumbers, from selecting the best produce, to washing and preparing, packing the jars, and making the brine. The fermenting process, best practices, and time frames will be discussed in detail. All of this will be summed up in a written guide for you to take home. 

    All ingredients will be provided and we are asking for a small fee of $5 to offset costs.  We also ask that participants bring a few household cooking utensils:

    • Large bowl

    • Potato peeler

    • Cutting board

    • Paring knife

    • Optional: apron

  • Women of War

    Women of War Weekend at HMCS Haida will commemorate and celebrate the many ways that women contributed to Canada's war effort during the Second World War. Special programming will provide a look at how women made important contributions on the homefront, in industrial settings, and as active members of the Women's Royal Canadian Navy Service (WRCNS).

    Come aboard and learn about the important contribution women made towards the Allied victory!

    The Downtown Block Party is a family friendly music festival taking place in the heart of downtown St.Catharines.   • Collecting Nature's Beauty: Fine Minerals and Crystals

    Jonathan Vasilyev will provide an introduction to the millennia-old hobby of mineral collecting. He will use beautiful examples to discuss criteria for collecting, give advice for creating visually impactful displays, and provide strategies to build a quality collection on a budget. Participants can bring their crystals, meteorites, or fossils for a free appraisal and identification.
