Members of Strong Water Women, an Indigenous-led drumming collective, will share their stories and how coming together has strengthened identity, resistance, and cultural resurgence.

Join Lincoln resident Ken Teshima to discuss  his experience of moving to Beamsville as a Japanese Canadian during the Second World War.

Bruce Kirkby is a widely recognized adventurer, writer, photographer, speaker, and paddleboard athlete. Bruce will discuss his book Blue Sky Kingdom, an engaging travel memoir. Come in person or view via Zoom.

In 1792 a fierce hurricane (or more likely a tornado) blew through Pelham, leveling many of the trees and everything else in its path.

A Quaker visitor to the area shortly thereafter recorded the following in his journal “and truly I may say, I never saw so great destruction of timber. For about two miles in width, and said to be many miles in length, there was scarce a tree left that was not torn up by the roots, or broken off.”

Jessica Linzel, MA, Director of Community Engagement at the Brown Homestead in St. Catharines, will talk about this storm and its impact based upon research sources such as land petitions and journals from the period.
